Historical Background of UR-82008 and the "BE BRAVE LIKE OKHTYRKA" Inscription
The aircraft UR-82008 is part of the legendary An-124 “Ruslan” family — one of the largest and most powerful cargo aircraft in the world, proudly designed and built in Ukraine. Operated by Antonov Airlines, this specific aircraft has been involved in numerous global humanitarian, technical, and emergency missions.
 
In response to russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Antonov launched a patriotic livery campaign under the banner “Be Brave Like Ukraine.” This campaign was aimed at highlighting the bravery and resilience of Ukrainian cities that stood strong in the face of aggression.
Okhtyrka, a small city in Sumy region, became one of the early symbols of Ukrainian resistance. Despite facing relentless shelling by russian forces, the city endured and remained unbroken. In honor of Okhtyrka’s heroic defense, UR-82008 received the inscription “BE BRAVE LIKE OKHTYRKA” on its fuselage in the fall of 2022.
 
Since then, the aircraft has continued to carry out international transport missions, proudly bearing this message of courage — symbolizing the unyielding spirit of Ukraine and honoring those who defend its freedom.
